St-Germain-en-Laye
St-Germain-en-Laye is a mix of the modern and historic. The town centre has its roots it the 11th century and it’s centre piece is the 14th century chateau with its views over the Seine valley towards Paris. It is a lively market town with many boutiques and cafes in its pedestrian areas. Central housing is mainly apartments in older buildings. To the north of the town the commerce gives way to large town houses and the forest or St-Germain. To the south St Germain merges with the smaller villages of the valley and gives way to more modern developments.
